Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum 51 Light Vanilla + Catrice Mattifying Powder

Hey ladies!

So today I want to show you one of my favorite foundations Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum 51 Light Vanilla and Catrice Mattifying Transparent Waterproof Powder. I just need to add that my first foundation ever was Bourjois Healthy Mix (Classic) which I LOVED, it was a perfect foundation for me, with good coverage, it didn’t show imperfections and didn’t look like a mask. I have tried some more foundations after it but I always came back to Healthy Mix. When I ran out of it again, I decided to test Healthy Mix Serum which I show today and compare with Healthy Mix Classic.

Let’s begin with Bourjois foundation!

Packaging: sturdy plastic. Actually, at first I thought it was a glass (Classic version has glass packaging). Still nice, though. Unfortunately only stickers can peel off but I guess it’s not that important.

Color: I like that Bourjois have quite good range of colors. I have one of the lightest and it has yellow undertone. I guess that you need to blend it perfectly so that anyone could see the difference between your skin and foundation.

Texture: creamy, liquid enough, easy to blend. The foundation doesn’t highlight pores, I guess it even hides them. The coverage is very thin, it won’t transform your skin but only make it glowy and radiant. It doesn’t look like a mask. If you have serious imperfections then it’s not your choice. Unfortunately it shows all dry patches. I have dry skin and it fits perfectly but as I have those dry patches I always need to use moistourizing cream before foundation. Also, this cream doesn’t leak into wrinkles which is important. Healthy Mix Classic has thicker coverage, doesn’t get into pores and also doesn’t highlight dry patches. At the same time it can leak into wrinkles.

Important thing that both foundations – Healthy Mix Serum and Healthy Mix Classic- don’t have any filters like SPF or PAA.

SPF, PAA.

Wearing time: it’s supposed to stay on the skin for 16 hours but unfortunately it doesn’t. It stays on the skin approx 6 hours. If you touch your face it will disappear even faster. Healthy Mix Classic stays longer (10 hours or more) as it has thicker coverage.

Application: I use fingers or my Real Techniques brush for foundation. Both applications give nice coverage.

To sum up: I like this foundation but I guess that Classic version is still better.

My point: 4/5 – for showing dry patches, no spf, paa. Price: 9$-10$

The product is made in France, 30 ml.

Now about Catrice Prime and Fine Mattifying Transparent Waterproof Powder.

Packaging: black sturdy compact case with a mirror and transparent bottom part. Unfortunately, if you take powder with you, there will appear scratches on it. There is no sponge with powder.

Texture: It’s a little smoother than regular powders, probably because it contains silicone, which is supposed to make it ‘waterproof’. Also, the texture is stiff enough but it’s not hard to get the product on the brush.Unfortunately, the powder showes ALL the imperfections, even those which are not shown with foundation. I bought this powder to set my makeup and to refresh it during the day but it really dries skin. Of course, it makes skin matte and on my skin this effect is like for the whole day. The powder doesn’t have any SPF, PAA filters.

Color: white in the packaging, transparent on the face.

To sum up: this is nice mattyfing setting powder but not for dry skin.

My point is 4/5 – for showing imperfections. Price -5-6$.

Made in Italy, 9 g.

I love Bourjois face products! They don’t break me out (I have super sensitive, oily skin), and I manage to find the shade that works (I’m very pale, neutral undertone, leaning towards yellow). I’m super happy with their foundations, concealers and powders 🙂
    Great post 🙂

    1. Yeah, they have good foundations! They have also made new concealers recently, they look really good. The only thing I regret that they don’t have SPF,PAA filters in their foundations 😦

They do in the new City Radiance foundation (SPF30) and in their CC cream (SPF15). I’m hypersensitive to the Sun, I’m not allowed to expose myself to it, like at all xD
So yeah, SPF is very important to me too 🙂

      2. Oh really? Thank you! I didn’t know that they have those filters 😉

No problem. The City Radiance has a sheer coverage but it’s okay with the concealer and it has some pollution filters too (I have no idea what those are xD ), and CC cream is my holy grail product, it has great coverage and my complexion actually improved with it!
For super sunny days I just put Bioderma face fluid with SPF 50+ beneath it as a base.

  2. Great post! Since you have dry skin, have you tried spraying with a setting spry, rose water or thermal water once you are finished setting your makeup to get rid of the dry, powdery effect? It will calm dowm the powders and they will melt into the skin. You will be left with a much better result in the end. I have this powder and it is a good drugstore powder. If you have dry or combo skin it is always better to set with a setting spray to clam the powders down. Hope this tip helps. I have a post on my blog on how to make your own setting spray out of Damask Rose Water if you are interested. Rose Water is a great product that has made a huge difference in my skincare regimen. Have a super day!

    1. Thank for the comment! Yes, I use thermal water to set my makeup and also I use daily moisturizing cream but for the post I missed those steps just to show how powder really highlights the imperfections. I don’t want girls to buy product because I’ve shown how “good” it is. I want show all the problems girls will face with ❤

      1. Ok. I really like this powder for drugstore. I take a little different approach on my blog. I just posted a review on MAC’s Mineralized Skinfinishes if you want to check it out. Powders look different on different skin types. This is a great drugstore option for someone with oily, combo

      2. skin. Sorry I hit the send button too soon. 😉 Even on dry areas it looks good, once you set it with a spray. Don’t you find that to be true? I understand the point you were trying to make. Although, on really dry skin I think that most powders (drugstore or high-end) will have a similar effect in dry areas until you set them with a setting spray to calm the powder down. Right? I really enjoyed the post! I love Bourjois’ Healthy Mix Foundation (original). Hope you have a lovely day! ♥★

      3. Thank you for the recommendations ❤ Actually, not every powder shows dry patches. In my last post "Top Summer Products" I've mentioned powder from korean brand Holika Holika and this is the first powder for me which doesn't show imperfections 😍 also the price is good – about 7-8$😉
